The Bridge Of The Jiaozhou Bay

On Thursday 30th of June 2011, China opened the longest bridge over sea, with a distance of 42 km, which links the city of Qingdao to Huangdao Island in the east. According to announcement of CCTV, the bridge of the Jiaozhou Bay is 35 meters wide and cost over $ 1.5 billion.
The bridge and an undersea tunnel were opened to traffic on Thursday. The construction of the bridge lasted for four years and is sustained by over 5,000 pillars.

According to the Guinness record, it is by four kilometers longer than the previous longest bridge over the water, "the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway" in Louisiana.
